instant solution-really!

I am a hair puller. As you know the proper name is Trichotillomania. I started pulling out my hair when I was about twelve years old. For about 20 years I pretty much had no hair on top of my head and down the sides. I tried different hairpieces but they all looked fake and they moved around. I started wearing hats. I must have had about 30 different kinds. I never left home without wearing one. I had one beside my bed at all times in case (god forbid!) there was an emergency in the middle of the night. When I went into premature labour with my daughter and I was being wheeled into the ambulance, the only thing I took with me was my hat!
I lived like this for years. I tried various techniques and therapies but nothing worked for me. I used to dread going out somewhere where I would have to forgo the hat. Like my best friend’s wedding or a staff Christmas party. It took me hours to do my hair and I worried the entire time that it was going to be windy, start to rain or that the million layers of hairspray I had used would wear off.

I’d seen shows that did makeovers and I always thought it would be an amazing experience-and to come out with a full head of hair would be like a dream come true. I now have a full head of hair and I look good! I can shower, sleep in it, get caught in the rain, run my fingers through it and ride in a convertible! I eagerly look forward to going out, no hairspray and no hat! I get compliments all the time on my hair. It looks so natural; it’s now a part of me. Because I now have hair I have no inclination to pull-it’s been 2 years. I can’t explain how incredible this is!
