9 minute Cure / trichotillomania-help.com

Hi there. I'm as curious and skeptical as the next person about this so-called 9 minute cure; however, after days attempting to research and/or find evidence of a scam, I have come up with no helpful nor encouraging information regarding the website or Alex LeGrand. I've decided to take a f-ck it approach, and go ahead with the possible loss of $70. I figure, if it doesn't work (I imagine it won't) then I have just paid $70 to warn others and ease their minds that they aren't passing up a "miracle" for less than a hundred bucks. I might find reason to pull over the anxiety of all the 'what-ifs' I'm capable of conjuring in my head! HA. (i.e. what if I could stop pulling and go back to being pretty over a measly- in retrospect of course- $67 bucks)

So my deal is that I came across this site and read someone's question about the video when I was searching for my own answer regarding the same video. Since I've been unsuccessful at finding anyone posting a blog or such saying that they've tried it... I will go ahead and purchase the "cure" after writing this. I will try to update as much as possible, probably once a week - since I can sometimes go 2-3 days pull-free on my own accord.

Real quick, let me give a brief description of my own experience with trich:
I pulled out my eyelashes at age 11, shortly after my mother was murdered, and continued for about a year to two years. To my recollection, I pulled them out fast, leaving my eyes completely bald within months. I saw a therapist, took things like Prozac and Zoloft, and was forced to wear eye glasses for protection. I don't know exactly HOW I stopped, but I WAS able to stop and my lashes were back in time for the 8th grade. Personally, it wasn't the shrink and DEFINITELY wasn't the drugs; it was the social stigma, teasing and my own vanity to be "one of the pretty girls in the 8th grade" that I believe motivated me to finally stop. Who knows though. I stopped and my trich was "gone" for the next 7 years.
My trich was re-triggered at age 20, secondary to sexual assault. This time my pulling was much 'slower' so to speak, in that, I didn't pull enough to be noticeable by others in the first 2-3 years. This time, however, I pulled my eyeBROWS. I'm about to turn 28, making that 8 years now of pulling. I kept to pulling mostly the brows for about 5 years, but as you can imagine... eventually my brows became bald. SO... I moved on back to the eyeLASHES. My eyebrows AND eyelashes have been completely bald now for the past 2 years or so.

In all honesty, I haven't really tried anything- substantial that is- to help "cure" the problem. I've dedicated my collegiate career to studying psychology (I have a B.S. and M.S. in psychology/professional counseling respectively- doesn't make me an expert or anything), and generally have accepted that there IS NO CURE. On the other hand, I do realize that it IS possible to stop. I did it when I was 12! Don't know why I can't do it at 27 tho!

For the betterment and peace of mind of all us TrichStars ; ) I promise to try this 9-minute thing and offer the most honest feedback possible. I agree that it is predatory and cynical to hoard and/or make financial gain off of "a proven cure". I'll letcha know!

I bought it, and it worked

I bought it, and it worked for me, for 5 months I did not touch my hair. I recently had to go on steroids, and it started again. When I went to the file I saved when I bought the product, the video was gone! I guess Alex had taken it down. I emailed him, no reply. I was so desperate I bought it from one of his affiliates, and never received it (it's in dispute with Paypal as we speak). If anyone knows a reliable place to get a copy of this, or is willing to send me theirs, I would be very grateful.

Okay, so that was quite a

Okay, so that was quite a while ago... but I couldn't re-find this site since I had been to about a million related ones that day, and didn't try to post an update until much later than expected. Luckily, I just received an email telling me there was a comment...

So, the 9-Minute Cure:

Bought it, listened to all of it (I also purchased the extra "sessions") one time. If there was only one answer, either "yes it works" or "no it doesn't", the answer would have to be NO. I listened to it beginning to end, and my trich was not "cured".

I would like to elaborate, however, and attempt to play devil's advocate so that each of you can make an more informed decision:

-video is not 9 minutes, rather it is 45 minutes (not including the recommended pause time and additional hypnosis sessions)
-video is actually a powerpoint with voice recorded over
-"video" is very poorly made; i.e. it sounded as if Alex was hurriedly reading- not to mention rifling through- papers, he made mistakes/misspoke and didn't take the time to rerecord, and frankly it sounded as if he put the whole thing together in the hour it took to listen to and/or practically substituted the word "trich" in where he might have otherwise said "obesity", "anger", "anxiety" "drinking" and so on (it seemed as though this was only one of many "videos" he was making that day)
-video is not informative
-"techniques" suggested are elementary at best, and generally impractical

Devil's Advocate:
-I only listened once
-I did not do the recommended exercises during the video (although, he specifically says that they aren't necessary for the video to "work")
-I planned on, and felt that another good-faith effort might prove beneficial right after listening, however have not yet given it another try
-Helpful in the sense that it is something else to do and focus on, rather than pull
-Hypnosis-type segments are fairly relaxing and soothing
-I personally found it helpful to force myself to really, truly visualize what I would look like in 10, 20, 30 years as a possible motivator and "technique" to use when I find myself pull

Overall: This video is NOT A CURE in any sense of the word; it IS a potentially helpful tool to use, or guide, if you are highly motivated or "need an excuse" so to speak

Basically, it's NOT WORTH the $$$ even if you have only mediocre expectations

Hi Neaner.. My name is Nicky.

Hi Neaner..

My name is Nicky. I recently came across that Alex Legrand website myself and was debating weather to purchase the book also, havent yet though.. Pleas update us if you get it and what it's like. It would be extremely disappointing if it was a scam...
How people can take advantage of people that are battling through something like trich is beyond me!!?!!

HI Nicky, I posted my update

HI Nicky,

I posted my update on the video right under my original message. But just to personally reply, I'd like to say that I can't in good conscience recommend the book/video. There is nothing "9 minute" or "cure" about it. It's a 45 minute powerpoint with a voice recording, that's meant to be a "process"; it is recommended (by "Alex") that you re-listen to the video as much as needed, practice the "techniques" given when you do pull, and "keep trying"/"don't beat yourself up" after you pull. Overall, it's misleading, poorly made assuredly not a guarantee. Frankly, if the video gets anyone to stop pulling, then I imagine they were already ready, willing, and capable of stopping regardless. Best wishes!
